How long ago a domain was first registered, calculated from its WHOIS/RDAP "creation date" to today. Not the same as how long the CURRENT owner has held it - a domain can change hands while keeping its original registration date.

Why people check it

Mainly due diligence before buying an "aged" domain (older domains sometimes carry existing backlinks or trust with third parties), or simple curiosity about a site you visit often.

The rarity rating (stars/nickname)

A collector's-market label, from "New" up to "Museum Grade" at 30+ years - reflects how uncommon a domain of that age is among currently registered domains, nothing more. It's not a quality, trust, or SEO score.

Does domain age help SEO?

Not directly - Google has stated on the record that a domain's age itself is not a meaningful ranking factor. What can matter is what happened DURING that time (a consistent history, earned backlinks) - the age number alone isn't a signal worth chasing.

Registration date not published

Not every registry includes a creation date in its public WHOIS/RDAP response - when that happens, this tool shows whatever else was published (registrar, expiry) instead of guessing.
